Angelica Lopez is currently an editor and director in Los Angeles, California. As a representative of the Latin community, Angelica Lopez endeavors to tell the stories of those under-represented in the film industry and plans to radically change filmmaking with her own production company. Her interest in storytelling tends to explore relationships and their communities and she is currently developing a gritty, coming-of-age drama to explore these values.

 

Angelica Lopez has worked on projects ranging from independent features to short films to commercials.

Her directing work includes participation in AT&T’s Real Business Stories, where she developed and directed a commercial for a local business that designs modern audio wear for the everyday adventurer. In 2016, her commercial was featured on AT&T’s YouTube site. She is currently employed as an assistant editor at NBC Universal.

 

Ms. Lopez is pursuing her M.F.A. at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with a focus in editing and directing, guided by industry mentors including Norman Hollyn and Reine-Claire. Her recent work at USC includes editing a short documentary for the keystone documentary class. The film, Spanish FLY (2015), won best short at the Independent Documentary Awards and best music short at the Culver City Film Festival and has been presented in numerous film festivals.

 

Ms. Lopez received her B.F.A in Film & Digital Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz with a concentration in Film Production and a minor in English Literature. She has been awarded several scholarships and accolades for her work as a filmmaker, and was a 2013 nominee for the Princess Grace Foundation.
